About This Blog:

  • In 1922, my paternal great grandfather went to China as a medical doctor.

Even before that, my maternal great great grandparents, through their work with the Scandinavian Alliance Mission, introduced rye to northwest China during the time of the Empress Dowager (1891). Members of that family also performed medical work and established a school to teach the people to read and write.

In 1930 my maternal great grandfather worked with the Chinese people to build roads in order to bring famine relief supplies to northwest China.

Now, three generations later, I've been given an opportunity to follow in their footsteps. For 11 weeks this summer, I will live, work, and serve among the chinese people in the coastal city of Dalian, China.

This blog will strive document the many facets of this unique opportunity, and allow readers from across the world to share in the joys and adventures of life in China.
